On 22nd December 2018 I travelled to Paris, to check out the new collaborative exhibition between Futura and Andre Saraiva ‘Chez Nous’ (At Us) located at the Danysz Gallery in Haut Marais. The exhibition was a chance for the two artists regarded as pioneers in the field, to collaborate, cross over and share their worlds. These works were all new and created especially for this show, a chance for them to experiment and merge their styles together.
Futura was the reason why I started following and getting into graffiti art, from first noticing his distinct Pointman characters and swirls on UNKLE album covers, I was just drawn to his graphical style. Andre I noticed and became familiar with when watching ‘Exit Through The Gift Shop’, Invader and himself were at the forefront of a movement that was just starting out and beginning to grow, Andre was creating and developing his distinctive dancing character known as ‘Mr A’.
Both artists have clearly enjoyed themselves here creating these pieces, along with the paintings were a series of prints created which could be viewed upstairs in the gallery. This was a rare opportunity for me to see these artists work, as they very rarely, if at all exhibit in London. I was very pleased to have the chance to experience this, and can only congratulate Magda Danysz for curating this project, and pushing forward and making accessible art work like this to people like myself and collectors around the world.
